Cholesterol testing
We all need cholesterol for our bodies to work efficiently, but an excessive level can lead to serious heart problems.
Finding out if you have elevated levels of cholesterol is simple at samedaydoctorTM. We carry out a cholesterol test to measure levels and can then assess whether treatment or preventative measures are required.
Our cholesterol test is not only suitable for diagnosing problems in people who already have symptoms, it can also be beneficial in preventing potential problems through diagnosing elevated cholesterol levels before symptoms appear.
Blood pressure tests
High blood pressure can be caused by many factors such as stress, bad diet, being overweight or lack of exercise. Many people suffer with raised blood pressure, but if left unchecked it can lead to serious problems.
However, as blood pressure can vary greatly during the day and in different circumstances, at samedaydoctorTM we conduct blood pressure tests over a 24-hour period in order to give a true reading of blood pressure levels.
ECG testing
Echocardiogram, also known as ECG and EKG, testing is a powerful tool in the diagnosis of heart disease. An ECG test works by monitoring electrical impulses, from which our consultant cardiologists can see whether the heart is working efficiently.
As conducting an EKG/ECG test when the patient is relaxed can sometimes fail to show up problems, we also carry out echocardiograms while the patient is exercising so as to gain a clear picture of heart function. We also often carry out ECG tests over a 24-hour period in order to gain a more complete picture of heart activity.
CT Coronary Calcium Angiography
In addition to testing cholesterol, blood pressure and carrying out an ECG, another procedure we use is a state-of-the-art CT Coronary Calcium Angiography. This test involves a non-invasive scan of the heart to detect plaques and narrowing in the arteries, which can cause heart disease and all of its associated symptoms.
