HIV testing
We can now offer instant HIV test results using INSTi (TM) technology. Results are available in person in ONE minute.
Our standard DUO HIV test results are available within 4 hours by phone, or in person. This includes the p24 antigen and HIV 1 and 2 antibodies. We can test 28 days after contact with a very high degree of accuracy.
We can also do a mouth swab HIV test with results in 20 minutes
We can also offer the Proviral DNA PCR test for HIV-1, 10-14 days after contact. This is an early detection test. These results are available usually within 6 working days.
We carry out HIV tests for Visa purposes including Visas for Russia and the Middle East.
We can also discuss other issues such as post exposure prophylaxis and how to deal with being HIV positive. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the virus which may eventually progress and lead to a diagnosis of AIDS.
STD TESTING
THERE IS NO NEED TO DO SWAB TESTS. MEN AND WOMEN MAY HAVE STD TESTS DONE ON URINE SAMPLES IF THEY PREFER. THE "UMBRELLA TEST" IS AN URBAN MYTH WHICH DOES NOT EXIST (Bradbeer et al; BMJ 2006; 333: 1287-1288).
Our testing is fully confidential and real names do not have to be given. You do not have to give your address or phone number and we do not contact you or your GP unless you request us to do so. The tests and their results do not go on to any central medical record.
We can prescribe antibiotics at the first visit for patients with symptoms or those in high risk situations-we would also send away samples for testing.
We have male and female doctors. A chaperone is always available.

The full sexual health screen (£295) includes:
Blood test for: HIV testing: HIV 1+2 antibodies and p24 antigen, Hepatitis B antigen and Syphilis test . Swabs or urine tests for STI/STD testing, chlamydia testing, gonorrhoea, mycoplasma, ureaplasma and candida (thrush). We also examine for genital warts and test for herpes where appropriate. Anal, rectal or oral swabs may be carried out at a small extra cost. We can offer immediate results for chlamydia for women if requested. We offer urethral and vaginal screens-we recommend that men do not pass urine for at least 2 hours prior to their appointment.
We also test for NSU (non-specific urethritis), bacterial vaginosis (BV), trichomonas and cystitis.
Additional tests such as herpes testing needs to be discussed with the doctor or nurse- we can also tailor special profiles for men who have sex with men.
PREMIER SEXUAL SCREENING-£495
In some situations it may be appropriate to offer the Premier Sexual Screening service. This includes the Full Sexual Health Screen as detailed above PLUS:
HPV swab for 20 subtypes of virus
Herpes blood test for HSV 1+2 antibodies
Swab or urine for Mycoplasma Genitalis.
GENITAL WARTS AND HPV DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

We have the new Gardasil and Cervarix HPV Vaccines against Cervical Cancer and Genital Warts.
We can now test men and women for 20 different subtypes of HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) including high risk cancer causing subtypes. The tests use DNA techniques.
Our specialists can provide advice on how to minimise the risk of cervical cancer through regular testing, treatment, referral for colposcopy and vacination.
We can treat genital warts in men and women with cryotherapy (freezing) and also prescribe additional treatments.
Herpes Testing
We can swab lesions for herpes (HSV) virus and also do blood tests; both can distinguish between HSV1 and HSV2. We give advice on infectivity and prescribe medication which may help lead to long term suppression of the virus.
Well Man and Well Woman screening
Cervical smears, contraception and well woman screening are available. We also offer for men well man screening and prostate checks as well as advice on erectile dysfunction and impotence. We can screen men and women for subtypes of HPV (human papilloma virus), and give advice on pregnancy management and fertility/infertility problems. We carry out semen analysis for men to determine their fertility. DNA screening and pre pregnancy gene testing is also available for diseases such as cystic fibrosis.
