Vaccination

Travellers to tropical countries and many other regions will need to be vaccinated against various diseases including: Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A, Typhoid Fever, Polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus and many others.

When deciding which travel vaccines are required, each individual traveller should obtain information relating to the country or countries they intend to visit.   It should be noted however, that even experts disagree on the detail, and travellers may receive conflicting information.

Travellers should therefore assess their own risk by considering the nature of their trip. For example, a business traveller visiting only hygienic, air conditioned premises for a few days cannot be compared to someone travelling extensively to rural areas of the same country where health risks are considerably higher and access to medical facilities is limited or poorly developed.

Travel Vaccine Pack

samedaydoctorTM will advise our Travel Vaccine Pack for most travellers, it includes: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (two injections in total).

In addition, Malaria Tablets may be prescribed and additional vaccines are available, such as Yellow Fever, Hepatitis B, Meningitis or Rabies, all at an additional cost.

Prices

  • Standard Travel Vaccine Pack: £140 (Hep A/Typhoid/Dip/Tet/Polio)
  • Travel Pack plus (As above plus Yellow fever) £190
  • Yellow Fever alone: £80
  • BCG Vaccinations: £70
  • Mantoux Testing: £70
  • Flu vaccine £25
  • Rabies £60 each of 3 vaccines
  • Swine flu vaccine £55 (includes registration)
  • Malaria prescription-free with travel vaccines

More and more people are travelling further afield these days for both holidays and on business. While it’s fantastic that we can now visit countries around the globe more easily, it’s important that we protect ourselves against the tropical diseases that exist in these far-flung locations. It is therefore vital to make sure you have all the relevant vaccinations against diseases such as Yellow Fever, Hepatitis, Typhoid Fever, Polio, Diphtheria and Malaria before you travel.

At samedaydoctorTM we run private walk-in travel clinics across the country, to enable you to have all of the necessary travel vaccinations - including Hepatitis, Tetanus, Polio, Diphtheria and Yellow Fever vaccinations and Malaria tablets to name but a few - at a time that suits you.

Which travel vaccinations are necessary?

Different countries require different vaccinations and while sometimes you may only need to have the more “standard” vaccinations such as Typhoid, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio injection vaccinations, in other places more specific protection such as Rabies and Yellow fever vaccinations and Malaria tablets may be necessary. It is important that you check which vaccines are recommended for the country that you intend to visit.

You can find tables of the travel vaccinations required in various countries by following the link on this website, however, we must point out that even the experts often disagree on the details of which vaccinations are required and you may find some conflicting information.

The information available is often very generic, so it is important that as an individual you assess the risk for yourself. For example, somebody making a short business trip, and staying in a large town or city in hygienic, air-conditioned premises would not necessarily require as extensive travel vaccinations as someone planning to spend longer periods in remote, rural areas where the risk of disease is higher and there is little access to medical facilities.

Therefore, common sense is often the best approach when deciding whether you need Malaria tablets, Diphtheria, Typhoid jabs or maybe even Yellow Fever vaccinations.

A full range of vaccines

In the most straightforward cases the team at our travel clinic will recommend our Travel Vaccine Pack. For the reduced price of £140, this includes Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (two injections in total).

Where necessary you may also be prescribed Malaria tablets and given Hepatitis B, Meningitis, Rabies or Yellow Fever vaccinations at an additional cost. As well as our travel clinic we also offer other vaccine services including BCG vaccinations against Tuberculosis, Mantoux testing and a wide range of children’s vaccinations (see our BabyJabs page for more information).
